Description:
In this presentation and discussion, AJ will review effective strategies for identifying and challenging internal biases in ourselves and other supervisors/managers who support staff with marginalized identities, with a focus on our role and responsibilities as white supervisors of BIPOC staff. We will review and reflect on how characteristics of white supremacy culture can show up in our work, especially in non-profits and social services agencies. We will end with a discussion of how we can adjust our own thinking about supervision and update organizational policies as we work to create environments where all staff feel safe and comfortable showing up as themselves.
