Marguerit Galindo coordinates core professional and workforce development projects as the Peer Specialist Workforce Development Coordinator with the Wisconsin Peer Support Employment Initiative (WIPSEI).
Prior to employment at Access to Independence, Marguerit became a Certified Peer Specialist in May of 2021 and a Wisconsin Certified Peer Specialist Trainer in August of 2021. She has since offered peer support and facilitated trainings and supports in a variety of settings. Marguerit began her journey in peer support with Milwaukee Behavior Health Access Clinic South in crisis care while providing online trainings to new and upcoming Certified Peer Specialists. Prior to peer support, Marguerit contributed by providing service as the Intake Director for Teen Challenge Women’s Center in Milwaukee and as the Volunteer and Stewardship Coordinator at City on a Hill in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In doing so, Marguerit learned the importance of cultural humility and trauma-informed practices. In service, she has found deep meaning in remaining humble and in continuing her own personal inner work. She believes the level of harmony she will experience with the world around her is dependent upon the integrity she practices and in being consistent with this work.
Marguerit is passionate about peer support in Wisconsin and places great confidence in the core competencies and scope of practice in which peer support is built upon here. Principles such as empathy, mutuality, curiosity, co-learning, and self-determination are not only a framework for her but she genuinely chooses to live these principles in her daily life. Marguerit contributes her ongoing personal recovery and lived experience as the catalysts that have led her to this work and continues to fan the flame of compassion for others. In her personal time, Marguerit loves laughing with her family, welcomes deep and meaningful conversations, is motivated by beauty and appreciates a sunrise walk by the lake, and enjoys reading and researching thought-provoking information.
