We have a workgroup through Wisconsin United for Mental Health that is focusing on stigma in the emergency room, although we are branching out to a broader agenda around how to improve care for people with MI in the ER. We are planning a small summit in April with ER providers, consumers, family members and other stakeholders to see if we can identify a direction for strategic planning. It was suggested that we identify consumers who are working in ER settings as certified peer specialists to be part of our planning and also part of the event; possibly to feature this as an emerging best practice to address some of the challenges that people with MI face in the ER.
